Funeral services for Estell Bennette Gordon, 91, were held Jan. 5, 2013, at Greenshade African Methodist Episcopal Church in Quincy, Fla., with the Rev. Gloria Long officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Michael Gordon, Kenneth Murphy, Donell Brown, Darryl Lightfoot, Eric Gordon, Adrian Gordon and Orenthel Wiliford acting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Rudolph Gordon, Rubin Gordon, Malachi Gordon Jr. and Larry Gordon.

Mrs. Gordon was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Gadsden County, Fla., to the late Mrs. Mary Thompson Smart and the late Mr. James Bennette. She was a product of the Gadsden County Florida Schools.

She was united in holy matrimony to Malachi Gordon Sr., who preceded her in death in May 2005. She was a devoted wife of 69 years, and a loving mother.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae Gary.

She is survived by four sons, Rudolph Gordon (Mary), Rubin Gordon, Malachi Gordon Jr. (Jennifer), all of Attapulgus, and Larry Gordon of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Carolyn G. Lightfoot (Darryl) of Quincy; a sister, Adelle Sapp Prince; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildiren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a  host of relatives and friends.

Bruton Mortuary of Bainbridge was in charge.
