Two Cairo, Ga., men were arrested on drug-related charges Monday after Bainbridge Public Safety officers found several controlled substances inside their car.

“We received information that some individuals were in Bainbridge attempting to buy [pseudoephedrine] pills in order to make meth,” said BPS Investigator Chip Nix.

Shortly before noon Monday, BPS officers stopped a silver Chrysler 300 driven by Bobby Wayne Pyles, 30, of Cairo, near the intersection of Broad and Jackson streets in downtown Bainbridge.
Inside the car, officers found two boxes of pseudoephedrine pills, as well as crack cocaine, methadone and a trace amount of meth, Nix said.

Pyles and Kyle Robert Pering, 24, also of Cairo, were arrested and charged with unlawful possesion of pseudoephedrine and unlawful possession of methadone.

In addition, Persing was charged with possession of cocaine.

According to Nix, a third man who was also in the car, Jeffrey Head of Cairo, was arrested on an out-of-town warrant for violating the terms of his probation.

Man arrested after police find cash, pot

A Bainbridge man was arrested last Tuesday afternoon after BPS officers found marijuana, drug-related objects and a large amount of cash at his home.

BPS Investigator Chip Nix said he was looking into some burglary cases last Tuesday when he came across Marquis L. Spear, 33, of 906 Carter St.

Nix said he could smell “a strong odor of marijuana” on Spear’s clothes and emanating from an open door at his residence on Carter Street.

Inside Spear’s house, officers found several ounces of marijuana, as well as digital scales and plastic baggies, two items which are
commonly used to package illegal drugs for re-sale, Nix said.

Officers also found $14,535 in U.S. currency inside Spear’s house.

Spear was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
