The Aquatic Center is almost ready for business! Saturday, May 4, marks the day the Aquatic Center will be open for the weekends. It will be open daily beginning Friday, May 24. With the opening of the Aquatic Center right around the corner, you may be wondering about swimming lessons.
There will be three sessions of swimming lessons this year. The cost is $35 per session and there will be a limit of 30 swimmers per session. The age range is 2 to 17 years of age. The dates available are June 3-14, June 17-28, and July 8-19. Lessons are held Monday thru Friday from 11:00 a.m. to noon. This is also a great way to get a refresher in swimming as well. If you would like to sign up for any of these sessions, come see Libby at Leisure Services. She will be happy to set you up.
Don’t forget $1 swim days this year. They will be on Mother’s Day, May 12; Memorial Day, May 27; June 2; Father’s Day, June 16; Monday, July 7; Wednesday, July 31; Sunday, August 11; and Memorial Day, Monday, September 2. Family nights will be every Thursday night, where kids 10 and under get in free when they are accompanied by a parent or guardian (limit three children per adult). June will also mark the beginning of the Thursday nights’ “Aquata-wata family games.” This will be a weekly event where families compete for points that add up to a great Leisure Services package.
Did you miss the meeting for Adult Co-Ed Softball? No worries. Another meeting will be scheduled soon. The cost for a team is $400. You can call Leisure Services at (229) 248-2010 for more information.
The Bainbridge Spring 5K run is quickly approaching! Stop by Leisure Services and preregister now to be part of Bainbridge history as one of the first participants in this inaugural run. There will be first through third place medals in all age groups, one overall male and female top finisher for the run, and one overall male and female top finisher from the 5K training program.
The “Seven Weeks to a 5K” training program is up and “running!” We now have 36 new runners in the making. This past Saturday, 12 of these participants met at the Earle May Boat Basin to run/walk the entire nature trail (3.4 miles). They exceeded their own expectations and finished in record time. Great job guys!
