Lady Cats advance in playoffs, BHS boys fall

The Bainbridge High School Lady Bearcats tennis team won their first-round match in the state AAAAA playoffs on Tuesday, against visiting Union Grove High School of Henry County.
The Lady Bearcats were set to host Greenbrier High School of Evans, Ga., in the second round on Friday at the BHS tennis courts. If the Lady Bearcats win, they could possibly host a quarterfinal round match next week, since they hold the No. 1 seed from their region.
The BHS boys’ tennis team concluded their season on Wednesday after coming up just short against Northgate High School of Newnan, Ga. in their first round match. The boys’ team was Region 1-AAAAA champions.
Varsity boys tennis players included Hema Hasona, Nour Hasona, Jones Gossett, Wilson Dodd, Jack Reynolds, Josh Moorehead, Bennett Enfinger, Reid Willis, A.J. Bailey and Grayson Graham.
Varsity girls tennis players include Hilary Flournoy, Taylor Greene, Emma Kate Smith, Mallie Rollins, Meredith Conder, Lindsey Waddell, Stephanie Mayfield, Destine Salter, Anna Beth Bowles and Railyn Willis.
The teams are led by head coach Amy Thomas and assistant coach Malori Maxwell.
