Mr. Nolan “Dick” Blocker, age 84, passed away early on Monday, April 29, 2013, at his home in Bainbridge, Ga. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 1, at 11 a.m., in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, Ga. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Nolan Blocker was born May 23,1928 in Seminole County, Ga. to Joseph Marion Blocker and Georgia Lynn Blocker. Mr. Blocker served in the United States Army. He worked as and enjoyed being a truck driver. Dick Blocker loved being in the yard and working with his tools. He will be greatly missed by the children and grandchildren he loved so much.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Johnson Blocker, and children, Georgia Teresa Joiner, Walter Blocker, and Thomas Wayne Blocker.

Nolan Blocker is survived by his children, Peggy Mathews and husband, Steve of Elijay, Ga., Richard Blocker of Bainbridge, Shirley West and husband, Ernie Owens of Grand Isle, La., Kathy Cook and husband, Tommy Smith of Bainbridge, Linda McMillian and husband, Hayes of Bainbridge, John Blocker of Des Allemands, La., and Sara Clinton and husband, Tim of Bainbridge; 3 sisters; 7 brothers; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
