The Rev. Curtis Earnest, 87, of Donalsonville, Ga., passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Calvary Assembly of God in Brinson, with the Rev. Wayne Thomas and the Rev. Albert Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Michael Earnest, Curt Earnest, Robbie Odom, Keith Pitts, Jordan Davis and Skylar Pitts serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.

Rev. Earnest was born in Donalsonville, on Jan. 8, 1926, to the late Bowen Earnest and Inez Murkerson Earnest. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Brinson. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he graduated from Bible College, then continued his ministry in several Assembly of God churches, as well as ministering where the Lord led him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bowen Earnest and Inez Murkerson Earnest; and two brothers, Henry Earnest and Ralph Earnest.

He is survived by his wife, Sophie McDonald Earnest of Donalsonville; his sons, Danny Earnest and his wife Gloria of Graceville, Fla., Johnny Odom and his wife Donna of Pelham, Ga.; his daughters, Maxine Pitts and her husband Don of Panama City, Fla., Debra Kirkland and her husband Charles of Panama City, and Susie Croom and her husband Cecil of Donalsonville; his brothers, Lawrence Earnest and his wife Sandra of Fayetteville, Ga., Dockie Earnest and his wife Elsie of Brinson; his sisters, Aileen Alday of Donalsonville, and Jeanette Miller of Donalsonville.  He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
