Thomas Shelby Smith, 81, passed away July 16, 2013, in Quincy, Fla. He was born Feb. 3, 1932, to Thomas Vernon and Eunice Rich Smith in Quincy.

He was a 1949 graduate of Gadsden High School, Quincy, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a supervisor in road construction with C.W. Roberts Construction Co. for many years.

Visitation was Friday, July 19, at Charles McClellan Funeral Home, in Quincy. The graveside service was held Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Tammy) Smith of Quincy, Karen (Robert) Summers of Marianna, Fla., Victor (Marilyn) Smith of Telogia, Fla., Pat Faircloth of Hosford, Fla., Shannon (Tina) Brock of Bainbridge, Tana (Jack) Johnson of North Carolina; a sister, Martha Jane (Roger) Robinson of Cape Coral, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three nephews and a niece, Cissy Jones.

He was predeceased by his wife, Verlyn Darley Smith; brother, Sam Smith; and his parents, T.V. and Eunice Smith.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home, of Quincy, was in charge.
