The Young Eagles will fly Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Bainbridge Airport. Any students from ages 8 to 17 interested in taking a 20-minute flight in a light aircraft should go to the Bainbridge Airport between 9 and 11 a.m.
Young flyers must be accompanied by their parent or guardian to complete flight applications.  Applications may be obtained from the Bainbridge High School Air Force JROTC, Lt Col Dave Stewart or SMSgt Frank Geslak at 229-248-2268.
“This is the 10th such event here in Bainbridge known as the Bainbridge Young Eagles (BYE X),” Geslak said. “Over 700 young people have been flown here in Bainbridge by the EAA Chapter 445, Tallahassee, Fla.”
According to the Young Eagles website, in just three short years, more than 25,000 Young Eagles have signed up to be EAA student members.
This free membership is available to all Young Eagles as part of the Young Eagles Flight Plan.
In the flight plan, the young eagle flies, receives a logbook with an access code to sign up for the membership and the logbook provides access to the free Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course.
To date, more than 22,000 Young Eagles have signed up for the course. The EAA membership is free until age 19 and includes an online version of Sport Aviation magazine, e-newsletters, members-only website, free admission to more than 300 science and technology museums, discounts, and more.
