Brother’s Keeper, the movie filmed in and around Bainbridge, was released last weekend in 11 cities around the country in a “sneak peek” debut. Locally, the movie was shown, and is still available for viewing, at the AMC 20 Theaters in Tallahassee, Florida.
With the unconventional marketing of tickets through the Seatzy.com website, the movie posted impressive revenue numbers through the first three days of release. The per-screen average revenue of the 11 theaters showing the movie was $11,020. Total gross revenue for the three-day period was $121,225 in ticket sales.
According to Steven Camp, Executive Producer of Brother’s Keeper and Co-Chairman of Desert Wind Films, the per-screen average generated by Brother’s Keeper was second among all new releases this past weekend. The movie only trailed Dallas Buyers Club, starring Matthew McConaughey, which averaged $29,000 per screen.
Additionally, Camp said that Brother’s Keeper was the highest grossing film in all 11 of the cinemas in which it was released. The Tallahassee ticket gross was the highest of the 11 theaters at $16,546.
Brother’s Keeper will be released nationwide in March, 2014.
