Bearcats pounce Packers

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats basketball team defeated the Colquitt County High School Packers 53-44 Tuesday in Moultrie.
Tyree Crump led the way for the Bearcats with 19 points. Dominic Douglas added 9. Terry Xavier was highest for the Packers with 8.
The Bearcats jumped out to a quick 18-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. They outscored their hosts 7-6 in the second quarter to build a 25-11 halftime lead.
The Packers outscored the Bearcats 12-11 in the third quarter giving the Bearcats a 36-23 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Packers outscored the Bearcats 21-17 in the fourth quarter.
Coach McCullough said he was pleased with the performance of his team against the Packers.
“We handled the ball well and got it into position for some open shots,” he said. “We also did some good things defensively. Now we have to get ready for the Packers again. They come here Tuesday. Our goal is to improve with every outing and I am confident that we are doing that.”
After their rematch with the Packers, the Bearcats will travel to Thomasville for a Friday game against the Thomasville High School Bulldogs. They and coach Kelvin Cochran’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats will be in Thomasville High School’s Holiday Hoopfest Dec. 26-28.
Their first two 2014 regular season games will be Jan. 3 and Jan. 4 when they host the Seminole County High School Indians and Miller County High School Pirates.
