Ruby L. Barfield, 95, of Bainbridge, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15,
2013 at Memorial Hospital.
The graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Newton Crawford officiating. Active pallbearers will be Lance Lane, Lawson Lane, Will Brock, and Chason Phillips. The family received friends immediately following the service. Mrs. Barfield was born Aug. 14, 1918 in Adel, Ga., the daughter of Ed Lassiter and Rossie Ann Lassiter. She was a manager for many years at Baxter’s Shoe Store and worked until retirement at Grollman’s Shoe Store.
She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Barfield; her son, Edward Barfield; her daughter, Ann Zorn; her siblings, Alma Davis, Jewel Blanton, Mary Lou Wise, and Tally Lassiter.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Brock and her husband, Billy, of Bainbridge; her sister, Kaleda Meeks of Valdosta, Ga.; her grandchildren, Marla Zorn, Michelle Lane, Pam Carter, Angie Bryson, Lee Brock, Dana Phillips, and Sheree Dean; her 11 great-grandchildren; and her 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
