Swim team celebrates season with banquet

Coach Gretta Connor’s Region 1-AAAAA champion Bainbridge High School Lady Cats and Bearcats swim teams were honored at a banquet Tuesday in the school cafeteria.
Connor awarded individual medals to the top two finishers in various events. Tara Stevens, who represented the Lady Cats at the state Class AAAAA meet at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, received medals for finishing first in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 18.20 and the100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:02.86.
At the state meet, Stevens finished 20th in the backstroke and was fourth among freshmen and finished 24th in the individual medley and was seventh among freshmen.
Other Lady Cats medal winners included Jennifer Cerone, who was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 29.21, Eric Conner, who was first in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:13.29 and first in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:54.34.
Carson Harrell received a medal for finishing first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:23.76. Nour Hasona received a medal for taking second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:20.85 and Perry Waddell received a medal for second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:32.42. Waddell was also third in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 3:04.80.
Hema Hasona was third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25:66. Taylor Colon was third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:21.88 and third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:22.37.
Other third places were captured by Stanton Long with a 1:24.23 100-yard breaststroke time, Josh Moorhead with a 1:00.42 100-yard freestyle time, Logan Moorhead with a 2:27.08 200-yard freestyle time and Lauren Braswell with a 2:43.40 200-yard freestyle time.
The 200-yard medley relay team earned a medal for finishing first in a time of 2:03.39. Team members were Nour Hasona, Carson Harrell, Eric Conner and Josh Moorhead.
Also finishing first and earning medals was the first place 400-yard freestyle relay team of Taylor Bush, Jennifer Cerone, Kay Bush and Tara Tara Stevens.
Their time was 4:30.53. Capturing third place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay in times of 2:13,71 and 2:16.21 were the Bearcats team of Taylor Colon, Stanton Long, Perry Waddell and Hema Hasona and the Lady Cats team of Kay Bush, Lynsey Waddell, Tara Stevens and Taylor Bush.
