Mary Carolyn Carter Harrell Pierce, 86, of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Mosley officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 prior to the funeral service at the church.

Mrs. Pierce was born Oct. 28, 1927 in Climax, Ga. to the late Charles Oscar Carter and Mary Theresa Tyler Carter. She graduated from Climax High School in 1944 and later from Valdosta State College for Women and Florida State University.
She was a retired middle school teacher in Decatur County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Mary O’Quinn Sunday School Class and Circle # 6. She was a member of the Decatur County Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, V. F. W. Post 4904 Auxiliary, Decatur County Historical Society, and the Charlie King Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Joe Marvin Harrell and Lester Jack Pierce; her son, Lester J. “Rusty” Pierce, Jr.; and her daughter, Pat P. Donley.
Survivors include her children, Billy Harrell and his wife, Loraine, of Spartanburg, S.C., Charles Harrell and his wife, Pam, of Hazlehurst, Ga., and Mary Lynn Moody of Colquitt, Ga.; her 8 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.
