Paige Braswell, who won the overall Region 1-AAAAA girls cross country championship at Thomasville’s Greenwood Plantation with a time of  19.07, signed a cross country scholarship Friday with the University of West Georgia Wolves.
Looking on as she signed in the Bainbridge High School gymnasium hospitality room were her mother Tammy Braswell, Lady Cats track coach Tandria Phillips, Lee Harris, father of Bearcats National Elite Runner Chase Harris who won the overall Region 1-AAAAA championship with a time of 16.26, former Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country coaches Mandi Omara, Jeanie Oldaker and Chip Ariail, Bearcats and Lady Cats distance and middle distance running cross-country and track coaches Harold Smith and Greg Waddell and friend Steve Brooks.
Braswell, who is a National Elite Runner, received the Lady Cats most outstanding runner award, and the Dylan Reid Faircloth First Memorial Award.
The late runner’s mother, June Faircloth, who made the presentation to Braswell at the cross country awards banquet last November at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, praised her for showing the same high Christian values of leadership and dedication demonstrated by her son.
Lady Cats and Bearcats cross-country coach Lisa Enfinger said she is very proud of the accomplishments of Braswell and her Lady Cats teammates
“They have all worked very hard and produced great dividends,” she said. “Paige is a very dedicated and hard working runner who is very deserving of everything she has achieved.”
