The Bearcat track and field team traveled to Jefferson last Saturday to compete in the GHSA AAAAA state meet and returned to Bainbridge with three medals.
Dominic Douglas, Craig Cooper and Chase Harris each earned a medal for their performances.
Douglas finished fifth in the high jump, with Cooper right behind him in sixth place. The clearing height was 6-feet-4-inches.
“These two seniors have been region champions and region runner-ups for the past two years and we will certainly miss them and their performance next year,” Bearcat track and field coach Larry Clark said.
The high jump winner was Jonathan Mays of New Manchester with a clearing height of 6-feet-10-inches.
At the GHSA AAAAA state section meet in April at Stars Mill High School, Douglas finished second in the high jump and Cooper placed fourth. Both cleared the bar at 6-feet-4-inches.
Harris, a junior, finished third in the 3200-meter run with a new Bainbridge High School record of 9:58.05.
“The north is very talented with distance runners and Chase has done a great job of competing with them this year,” Clark said.
Christian Bowles of Lakeside Evans won the 3200-meter run in a time of 9:40.53.
At the sectionals meet, Harris won both the 1600-meter run and the 3200-meter run.
