At the May 12 Climax city council meeting, the mayor and council members encourage all resident to vote on May 20. They also asked that everyone consider and vote for the SPLOST VI as it will allow the City of Climax to provide necessary services, without increasing the millage rate and hopefully fees for water and garbage services. Mayor Charles Hadsock stated that SPLOST VI will not be a tax increase; it will be renewing the existing 1 percent tax already in effect as SPLOST V.
Police Chief John Presilla discussed a program with the council that the Department of Defense has where Police departments can acquire used equipment example, such as generators, etc., for use by the police and other departments after taking a class from the DOD. The Chief also requested that the class be held in Climax as he had several police and other officials interested in the class.
The council voted unanimously to allow Police Chief John Presilla  to take the class and for the class to be held in Climax with the city hosting. It should be noted that the Chief announced that at one time a few years ago Climax was a member of this DOD program.
Maintenance Supervisor Greg Toole announced that the Maintenance department had problems with equipment. The golf cart/buggy died, and the tractor was stuck in four-wheel drive causing it to wear out the tires and strain on the transmission, as the tractor is being used for what the buggy was used for. The weed eater was also torn up.  After discussion, the council agreed to purchase a new weed eater, and approved $7,100, for the purchase of a new transport buggy and the weed eater. Toole is to get a repair estimates for the tractor. With the tractor being out of order, Toole said he couldn’t push the trash pile up to burn it.
The city has received the final $10,000 payment from Decatur County as requested for the new fire truck.
City Clerk Karen Toole attended the Municipal Court Certification Course held in Tifton on May 7. The city Clerk also attended the settlement case in Thomasville concerning former Police Chief Joel Jenkins.
The council approved a $500 spending allowance for the Mayor on critical items that occur between meetings. This eliminates the need for called meetings to approve small amounts. This amount is not to exceed the amount named for one month.
