William Paul “Chief” Ivey

William Paul Ivey, 86, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 after a long battle with respiratory disease.
Ivey was the tenth child born to George Chesterfield and Fannie Mae Ivey in Brinson, Georgia.
He served in the US Navy from 1945-1967 retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.
“Chief” was recognized as an Honorary Worshipful Master of the Latham Masonic Lodge No. 12 in Austell, Georgia.
He also was a member of the Sweetwater Shrine Club No. 24, Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta and the American Legion Post No. 264.
Through these organizations he proudly served his community and brethren.
He was a loving family man survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Joan Ivey of Mableton, Georgia.
He was the father of five children – Marsha Staggs (Steve) of Norman, Oklahoma, Sandra Tucker (Dennis) of Jacksonville, Florida, Angie Ivey (Steve Goodyear) of Marietta, Georgia, Michael Ivey (Marvalane) and Stacy Fisher (Mark) of Douglasville, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Sally.
A Masonic service was held at White Columns Funeral Chapel followed by a full military graveside service at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta on Wednesday, May 14.
