Ella Frances Phillips

Mrs. Ella Frances Phillips, 81, of Colquitt died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Miller County Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with George Williams, Mike Williams, Mark Williams, Phil Long, Steve Long, Tim Gibson, and Randy Josey serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pall bearers will be Kim Henley, Ray Henley, Henry (Sam) Phillips, Ty Godfrey, Rick LaGuardia, Lynwood Sheffield, Jack Murray, Glen Henley, and Grady Fulghum. Visitation will be Saturday, May 24, 2014, starting at 9:30 a.m. at Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer for many years. She volunteered many hours for the American Heart Association and served on the Miller County Library Board. Mrs. Phillips worked for Southeastern Underwriters Association in Atlanta, GA, Southern Airways School of Bainbridge, cashier for Citizens Bank of Colquitt, and Peoples Bank where she also served as Vice President. After retirement, she worked as receptionist for Farmers Fertilizer of Colquitt.
She is survived by her husband, Milton Phillips, Sr. of Colquitt; two sons, Ken (Linda Gail) Phillips of Colquitt, and Guerry (Janice) Phillips of Dawson, Ga.; one daughter, Dawn Shepard of Colquitt; nine grandchildren, Trey Phillips, Kerri Leigh Phillips, Kenny Rogers Phillips, Justin Ashley Phillips, Guerry Brandon Phillips, Cayce Phillips, Trevor Phillips, Brittany Dawn Shepard, and Stephen Blake Shepard; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethlyn (Lawrence) West of Hartsfield, Ga., Joan (Ben) Long of Bainbridge, and Dianne Gibson of Ocilla, Ga.; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, George and Louise Griffin; three sisters, Mary Williams, Becky McCook, and Martha Elizabeth Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 126 Phillips Road, Damascus, GA 39841.
