Elton Eugene “Bill” Pope, 85, of Havana, Fla., and formerly of Climax, Ga., passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Big Bend Hospice House.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment followed at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Ricky Pope, Tim Maxwell, Alan Pope, Jerry Jones, Mark Pope, Terry Phillips, Allen Dust, And Jeff Mullis serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Pope was born Sept. 15, 1928 in Climax, the son of Jesse Pope and Olive Phillips Pope. He was a bus driver for many years and retired from Trailways. Mr. Pope was a member of Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church, Climax. He enjoyed his time as a Shriner with Marzuq Shrine Temple in Tallahassee. After retirement he was a funeral assistant with Ivey Funeral Home and Abbey Funeral Home in Tallahassee, FL for many years.
Survivors include his children, Cathie Pope Pedersen and her husband, Pete, of Havana, and Don Pope and his wife, Dawn, of Valdosta, Ga.; his three sister-in-laws, Drucilla Pope, Esther Maxwell, and Marguerite Mullis; and his grandchildren, Roy O. Pedersen and his wife, Rachel, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Jodi Pedersen of Tallahassee, Erica Pope of Tifton, Ga. and Lauren Pope of Valdosta.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sarah Kelley Pope; and his brother, Perry Lamar Pope.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
