Bainbridge Public Safety Captain Shannon Dunaway was injured Saturday morning while fighting a fire inside a burning home on East Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

Dunaway was in the front porch area of the house when the building collapsed on itself and buried him. He is currently being treated for injuries at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital.

BPS Deputy Director Frank Green said the house was abandoned and had no power connected to it. BPS and the Georgia Fire Marshal are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
