Preston Parker Perkins, Jr., 90, of Staunton, VA, passed away July 29, 2014.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014 at
Cedar Grove Cemetery near Climax, GA. The family will receive friends at the
cemetery immediately following the service. Online visitors may sign the

Parker was born November 3, 1923 in Climax, GA, the son of Preston Parker
Perkins and Ruby Swicord Perkins. He served as a Presbyterian Minister for
over 30 years. He was a Ruritan and a chapter founder while living in
Williamsville, VA. He served as an airplane mechanic in World War II, and
was an avid supporter of Veterans Affairs. Parker will be remembered for his
enjoyment of “tinkering”. He was gifted in multiple areas of building and
repairs and was an avid gun enthusiast.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Larry Allanson of
Staunton, VA, Sarah and Jesse Horner of Williamsburg, VA, and Susan and
Robert Vincent of Staunton; VA; six grandchildren, Katherine Horner, Matthew.

Horner and wife, Caitlin, Ben McDevitt and wife, Erin, Joshua McDevitt,
Morgan Jarvis and husband, Mark, and Dylan Allanson; and a great grandson,
Noah Parker Horner.
