Bainbridge High School Bearcats junior guard Tyree Crump, who made first team All Region 1-AAAAA and first team Class AAAAA All State as a sophomore last season, has committed to play his college basketball with coach Mark Fox’s Georgia Bulldogs.
While leading coach Rickey McCullough’s 2013-14 Bearcats to the Region 1AAAAA regular season championship, a second place finish in the Region 1-AAAAA Tournament and a berth in the Elite 8 round of the State Class AAAAA Tournament, Crump, who also made first team All Region 1AAAAA as a freshman, averaged 22.4 points a game.
Coach McCullough said he could not be prouder of Crump, who has strong work habits and works hard in practice and games.
“Tyree Crump is just an outstanding young man and basketball player,” coach McCullough said. “He hustles and gives 100 percent every time down the floor. He is a true Bearcat and I am looking forward to having him with us for two more Bearcat seasons.”
Crump credits coach McCullough with pushing him to be the best basketball player he can be.
“The things that coach McCullough has taught me have helped me become a better player,” Crump said. “He tells me when I do something good but he also helps me correct any problems he sees in my game. He is a great role model for me and all our other players.”
Crump says he chose Georgia because he likes Fox and his basketball program.
“Coach Fox is a lot like coach McCullough, and I am really looking forward to playing for him when I get to Georgia, where I plan on majoring sports medicine,” Crump said. “Right now I am just focused on continuing to work hard so I can be the best Bearcats basketball player I can be the next two seasons.”
