After a large win last week, the Bearcats travel to Worth County

The Bainbridge Bearcats are sitting on a 4-2 (3-2 region) record with four games remaining in the season, the first of which is Worth County this Friday in Sylvester.
The Rams are 2-3 (2-1 region) and are riding a wave of momentum after pummeling Dougherty last week 49-14 at Dougherty High School. The Rams’ problem is Bainbridge is also coming off a large 55-28 win over Americus-Sumter at Centennial Field.
“We’re getting better at what we do and that’s the key,” Bainbridge coach Jeff Littleton said. “We’re making sure we’re getting better each day. That’s just something we preach to our players every week.”
Last Friday, the Bearcats bulldozed over the Panthers in the second half to put 14 points on the board, scoring the majority of their points on the ground. Freshman running back Dameon Pierce rushed for 137 yards on six carries and two touchdowns.
The Rams defense, a 3-4 formation, is designed to stop exactly that style of offense.
“They’re built to stop the run,” Littleton said.
Offensively, Worth County sets up in a wing-T formation and rotates a stable of running backs, keeping fresh legs on the field and often pounding the ball all the way to the end zone.
“They have a good, big offensive line that likes to hit you in the mouth and run it right at you,” Littleton said.
In order for the Bearcats to return to Bainbridge with another “W” in the books, Littleton said the team would have to execute on both sides of the ball.
“We have to be disciplined on defense and make sure we’re reading our keys better,” he said. “Offensively, we just have to execute our blocking assignments and reads as well.”
Senior running back Traimaine McCray, who scored two touchdowns last week against Americus-Sumter, is at 100 percent after a meniscus tear that put him on the bench for the first half of the season. Littleton said McCray would also be playing in the defensive end position.
Kick off is Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Sylvester.
