A truck valued at over $35,000 was reported stolen from RiverBend Ford on Shotwell Street Monday morning.
The 2012 black Ford F-150 was discovered missing about two weeks ago when the key could not be located, said Bainbridge Public Safety investigator Captain Mark Esquivel.
According to the Bainbridge Public Safety incident report, RiverBend loans out vehicles to customers who are having work done to their vehicles, and management checked with all employees to ensure the truck was not loaned out on mistake or without paperwork.
Esquivel said that the Criminal Investigations Division has no leads.
“There are no witnesses, and we don’t have any leads,” Esquivel said. “Unless it gets stopped for not having a tag or is found abandoned – we’ve found them like that before – I don’t know what else we can do.”
“We got a hit yesterday, and supposedly someone found a large set of keys in one of the hotel rooms in Gainesville (Florida),” Esquivel said.
A deputy with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office contacted BPS in reference to found property in a La Quinta Inn in Gainesville, Fla. The key ring that was found in the room was believed to have between 100 and 150 sets of keys “with yellow tag displaying the year, make, models and whether or not the vehicles were new or used,” according to the incident report.
RiverBend Ford has not reported more missing keys. This case is still under investigation.
