Saturday, Oct. 11, marked another milestone for the happy couple Sandra and Sam Sirmon of Climax. They celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Festivities honoring the couple were held at the Climax United Methodist Church fellowship Hall. The hall was appropriately decorated with greenery and yellow roses with large ferns placed at focal points along the room. The white linen draped dinner tables for the guests featured delicate greenery of asparagus fern and gold sprinkles in the shape of 50.
The buffet table featured a tall bouquet of yellow roses nestled on a gold silk cloth with delicacies of all kinds surrounding the centerpiece, tempting the taste-buds of the guests as they made their way along the table. On another draped table, complimenting the food was an array of punch, lemonade, and other drinks. Soft candlelight enhanced the atmosphere as the guests enjoyed good food and fellowship.
The large tiered wedding cake was topped with a golden 50th and surrounded with greenery, white baby’s breath, and yellow roses. The white covered table also held a picture of the couple 50 years ago on their wedding day. Another picture of Sandra’s parents Mary and John S. Cleveland on their 50th anniversary held a special place of honor.
Another table held precious memories through the years for the couple beginning with their prom picture in high school to pictures as their family grew. Also on this table a large basket held cards from the many friends and family members who brought their best wishes. Sandra and Sam greeted a large crowd that came to celebrate with them throughout the afternoon.
Hosting the celebration for the happy couple were their children and Grandchildren.
