Eighth grade Bearcats fall 39-33 to Bobcats

The Bainbridge Middle School eighth grade Bearcats split two games this week evening
They defeated the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth grade Yellow Jackets 47-33 Tuesday on the road and dropped a 39-33 decision to the Early County Middle School eighth grade Bobcats Thursday at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.
They were led Tuesday by guard Jeremiah Davis with 16 points. Twelve of his points came on four third quarter 3-point baskets. His final four points came on four fourth quarter free throws.
Forward Bryce Jones also broke into the double figure column with a 10 point effort. He had a 3-point field goal, two two-point field goals and three free throws.
Rounding out the Bearcats scoring chart were center Jailyn Thomas with five points. Guard Isiah Knight and center Kadan Hill ha four points apiece, forward Kavion Worlds had three, point guard Tony Worlds and guard A.J. Cooper had two apiece and power forward Tim Allison scored one.
Eighth grade Bearcats coach Heith Maxwell said he was pleased with his team’s performance against the Yellow Jackets.
“We handled the ball well, got it to teammates in good scoring position and came up with strong rebounds in key situations,” he said. “Our young men played hard the entire game.”
In the Bearcats Thursday game with the Bobcats, they were led again by Jeremiah Davis with 12 points. Point guard Tony Worlds added five.
“We played hard and hustled against Early County, but we had to many turnovers,” Maxwell said after the game. “Early County is undefeated and a very good team.”
