The Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars basketball team dropped a 72-61 decision to Valdosta’s Georgia Christian Academy Lady Generals Tuesday at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
The Lady Cougars, who are 12-8 overall and 2-4 in the Georgia Independent Schools Association’s Region 3-AA, were led by Kelsey Harrell with 20 points and five rebounds and Perra Harrell with 18 points and five rebounds. Lindsey Duke also pulled down five rebounds.
Lady Cougars coach Erwin Harrell said he liked the way his team battled back the Lady Generals.
“Georgia Christian went eight-for-nine in the first quarter and we were quickly down 23-9,” coach Harrell said. “The ladies battled back and we got within three points early in the fourth quarter. Hopefully we will get another shot at them in the tournament.”
The Lady Cougars returned to action Friday when they hosted Valdosta’s Highland Christian Academy at Perry Memorial Gymnasium. They will travel to Ozark Alabama Monday to take on Harvest Christian School. Their final regular season game will be Friday February 13 against the Crisp Academy Lady Wildcats in Cordele.
In their first game with Crisp Academy on Jan. 27 at home, the Lady Cats bowed 55-39 to the Lady Wildcats. Kelsey Harrell led them with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Shellby Woodrum added eight points.
