Coach Tom Wheeler’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats will host the annual Bearcat Invitational Golf Tournament Saturday at Bainbridge Country Club.
Tee off will be at 8 a.m. Visiting schools coming to participate in the annual event include the Lee County High School Trojans, the Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets, the Thomasville High School Bulldogs, the Bacon County High School Red Raiders and the Coffee County High School Trojans.
Also in the tournament field will be the Valdosta High School Wildcats, the Vidalia High School Indians, the Lowndes County High School Vikings and the Northside Columbus High School Patriots.
Coach Wheeler said Bearcat Invitational, which is in its 16th season, has grown in participation each season.
“Some of the top golf teams in the state come to our Invitational each year,” he said. “Jay Moseley one of our former low medalists who went on to have an outstanding golf career at Auburn University and is now golf coach at Kennesaw State University, is very supportive of our golf program.
“He has come back from time to time to have golf clinics for our local youngsters. He also brings his Kennesaw State Owls team to the Seminole Open Tournament in Tallahassee each season.”
