Bearcats baseball outscored by Crisp Co. Cougars

The Crisp County High School Cougars downed the Bainbridge High School Bearcats 11-7 in a Region 1-AAAA game Tuesday night at the Bearcat Diamond.
The Cougars withstood a Bearcats three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh. The bases were loaded and the tying run was at the plate when the final out was recorded.
Center fielder Tyler Story opened the Bearcats seventh with an infield hit to second. Center fielder Anderson Bailey followed with a single to left moving Story around to third. Second baseman Dustin Strickland doubled to left center, driving in Story with the Bearcats fifth run and moving Bailey around to third. Left fielder Stanton Long then walked on a 3-2 pitch to load the bases.
The Cougars took the lead early, coming up with two runs in the top of the third to go up 2-0. First baseman Logan Carter started the rally with an infield hit. He moved up to second on a single to right by Will Carter. Catcher Stewart Collins then doubled to center driving in Carter and Collins.
The Bearcats rallied for four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead. Left fielder Stanton Long singled to center to open the inning. With one away, shortstop Keith Lyle singled, moving Long up to second. Third baseman Will Kelley then singled to right to load the bases. Catcher Blake Merchant doubled, driving in Long and Lyle to pull even 2-2. First baseman Seth Hall then doubled driving in Merchant with the third run. Hall moved to third on a wild pitch and came in with the fourth run on a fielder’s choice.
The Cougars rallied for four in the top of the fourth to retake the lead 6-4. Third baseman Will Carter led off the inning with a walk, moved up to second when designated hitter Hunter Slade was hit by a pitch. Left fielder Chris Hollock beat out an infield hit to short, loading the bases. Third baseman Austin Wall grounded, put pitcher to first driving in Carter with the Cougars third run. Third baseman Caleb Hulett then drew a walk to reload the bases. Pitcher Stewart Collins then hit a bases-clearing triple to plate the Cougars fourth, fifth and sixth runs.
The Cougars scored twice more in the top of the fifth to go up 8-4. Will Carter walked on a 3-1 pitch to open the inning and went to second on a one out single to right by Chris Pollock Austin Walds then walked to load the bases. Left fielder Chris Pollock drove in both runs with a single. An RBI double by Brady Hough nd a two run single by Chris Pollock put the Cougars up 11-4 in the top of the sixth.
