Wednesday morning, Bainbridge Public Safety arrested a juvenile in connection to an armed robbery that occurred in Bainbridge on Tuesday night.
Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, a cashier at the Dollar General located at 1616 East Shotwell Street was approached by a young male armed with a gun. He demanded money from the register and also from the safe. The cashier responded that she couldn’t open either, so the gunman snatched an item that was within reach, and ran from the store on foot. Following lead from witnesses regarding a description and path of travel, Bainbridge Public Safety was able to determine the identity of the juvenile, said BPS Investigator Chris Jordan.
He was located on Wednesday morning and was found in possession of a stolen cell phone from a vehicle break-in on Sunday. The handgun he used in the robbery was also taken from the same vehicle.
The juvenile, a Bainbridge Middle School student, has been arrested and is charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18 and Entering Auto.
