Solar Farm discussed at Lions Club

Industrial Development Authority of Bainbridge and Decatur County executive director Rick McCaskill brought t he Bainbridge Lions Club up to date Wednesday on the progress of the new solar plant.
He began by telling the club that the new solar plant being constructed at the park will add extensively to the Decatur County tax roles.
“The solar plant, when it begins operation, will add $180,000 to the county tax roles,” he said. “That is very significant. The plant, when completed, will have the capacity to bring solar power to 21,000 homes.”
McCaskill also talked about what the Authority is planning to do to help former employees of Shaw Industries to find new employment.
“I am sure you all saw that Shaw Industries was having to lay off between 267 and 350 employs,” he said. “On Wednesday, Aug. 19, we will be holding a job fair for them. We are here to support all of our local industries and the employees who work for them.”
McCaskill said the Industrial Development Authority is constantly looking for new businesses and industries to locate in Bainbridge and Decatur County because he feels they have so much to offer them.
