J.V. Lady Cats pull off tie, win in doublheader Tuesday

Coach Nikki Griffin’s Bainbridge High School junior varsity Lady Cats softball team posted a tie and a win in a Tuesday double header against the Thomasville High School junior varsity Lady Bulldogs.
Coach Griffin said the team played hard and well in both games.
“In the opener, Thomasville jumped out to a 5-0 lead but we came back to score five and pull even,” she said. “Our big hits included a solo home run by Cyteria Jones and a double by Katie Calhoun in the fifth inning.”
In the second game, the girls came out of the gate swinging and never let up on the way to a 10-3 victory, behind a strong pitching performance by Mabry-Grace Briggs.
“I was very pleased with the players overall efforts in both games,” Griffin said.
The junior varsity Lady Cats will return to action Monday, Aug. 31, when they host a game against the Berrien County High School junior varsity Lady Rebels at the Lady
Cats Diamond and travel to Thomas County for a Thursday, Sept. 3, 4 p.m. Region 1-AAAA game against the Thomas County Central Middle School junior varsity Lady Yellow Jackets.
On Wednesday, Sept. 9, the junior varsity Lady Cats will travel to Donalsonville for a 4 p.m. game against the Seminole County High School junior varsity Lady Indians and on Thursday, Sept. 10, they will take on the Berrien County junior varsity Lady Rebels at 4 p.m. in Nashville.
The junior varsity Lady Cats will conclude their September schedule with a Tuesday, September 22 4 p.m. Region 1-AAAA game against the Cairo High School Syrupmaids in Cairo and a Thursday, Sept. 24, 4 p.m. Region 1-AAAA game against the Crisp County High School Lady Cougars at the Lady Cats Diamond.
