Lady Cougars handle Lady Generals 3-0

Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars volleyball team defeated Valdosta’s Georgia Christian School Lady Generals 3-0 Tuesday at Perry Memorial Gymnasium to improve their overall record to 6-1 and their GISA Region 2 mark to 3-0.
“Beating Georgia Christian was big for us,” Harrell said following Tuesday’s match. “They always seem to serve well and control the tempo, but tonight I thought we did the better job of serving and controlling the tempo. It was a true team victory. Everybody contributed.”
The Lady Cougars won the first set 25-7, won the second set 25-22 and won the third set 25-11.
Kaitlyn Holcombe had an outstanding serving night as she converted 20 of 21 serve attempts for 95 percent. Kelsey Harrell led the way in kills with six. Also contributing significantly to the victory were Sarah Castoro with five digs and Lindsey Duke with nine assists.
The Lady Cougars will return to action Friday when they host the Frederica Academy Lady Knights from St. Simons Island at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, Sept. 15, they will host the Valwood School Valiants from Valdosta at 5 p.m. The junior varsity team will play at 4 p.m.
