Seventh grade basketball teams hit the court for practice

The Bainbridge Middle School seventh grade Lady Cats and Bearcats basketball teams will open their seasons Thursday when they host Thomasville’s Brookwood School Lady Warriors and Warriors at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.
The Lady Cats game with the Lady Warriors will get underway at 4:30 p.m. and the Bearcats game with the Warriors will follow.
Seventh grade Lady Cats coach Lisa Taylor and seventh grade Bearcats coach Patrick Clark both like their teams work ethic and focus in preseason drills.
“India Parris, Destiny Turner Nyla Register, Ashara Fudge and Renee Fillingame are all young but they picking things up quickly and executing the offense well,” coach Turner.
Coach Clark said his team is picking up their positions play well. “We are making some mistakes but are quickly learning from them. We are also doing a lot of running to improve our stamina. At the conclusion of each practice we run for 14 minutes.
“We are getting good efforts from center Kzasey Jones, point guard Mark Taylor, shooting guard JaMorris Cosby, power forward J-Von Lee and small forwards Rashad Broadnax and Desmond McGriff.”
Coach Clark said a number of players who will be providing depth off the bench would be key to the team’s success this season. They include Connor Poitivent, Aaron Mosely, Stanley Wellsm Dylon Worlds, Anthony Johnson, Civontay Thornton, Quentin Clemmons, Tymere Noble, Tylan Thornton and Chris Mack.
“In addition to working on plays, we have also done a lot of running to get into shape. All of the young men have really gotten excited about the season.”
