Coach Marion Bush’s Bainbridge Middle School eighth grade Lady Cats basketball team dropped a 44-20 decision to the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth grade Lady Yellow Jackets Wednesday at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.
The Lady Cats kept things close early. They were down just 6-2 at the end of the first quarter and trailed just 12-8 at halftime.
“I liked the way we stayed close in the first half, but things kind of got away from us in the second half,” coach Bush said after the game.
India Parris, cousin of former Lady Cat Patra Parris, who is now playing with the Darton College Lady Cavaliers in Albany, led the Lady Cats in scoring with 8 points. Deisha Chapell and Lashana Williams followed her with 4 points apiece and Destiny Turner and Nyla Register put in 2 apiece.
Janaah Ellis of the Lady Cavaliers took game scoring honors with 20.
The Lady Cats will begin their post-holiday schedule Jan. 4, 2016, when they travel to Thomasville to take on the Macintyre Park Middle School Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Cats will take on the Seminole County Middle School eighth grade Lady Indians Jan. 7. They will conclude the season with home games against Macintyre Park on Jan. 11 and Cairo’s Washington Middle School eighth grade Lady Tigers on Jan. 13.
