The Bainbridge Lady Cats dropped a 35-28 decision to the Thomasville High School Lady Bulldogs Tuesday in Thomasville.
Coach Cochran’s team took a strong 10-4 overall record into two Region 1-AAAA games this weekend.
Leading the way for the Lady Cats Tuesday night in Thomasville was Tytianna Roseborough with 14 points. Nadia Marshall added 6, Rakia Hughes and Asia Gordon put in 3 apiece and Alexis Russ scored 2.
The Lady Cats led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter. A 12-7 Lady Bulldogs second quarter scoring edge put them up 18-17 at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Cats 9-5 in the third quarter to a 27-22 lead after three quarters. They then outscored the Lady Cats 8-6 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Lady Cats head coach Kelvin Cochran said the Lady Bulldogs slowed the game down to pull out the victory.
“Thomasville just passed the ball around and slowed the tempo,” coach Cochran said. “Down the stretch in the fourth quarter we had to foul and send them to the free throw line. To their credit they hit most of their late free throws. We beat them earlier at our gym.”
Friday, the Lady Cats traveled to Cordele to take on the Crisp County High School Lady Cougars and tonight they will host the Cairo High School Syrupmaids.
Each Region 1-AAAA team has already played each other once, but only the second games, taking place this weekend, count in the region standings.
The only non-region game remaining on the schedule will be a home game against the Seminole County High School Lady Indians on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
