GCA Cougars beat Byne 57-29, defeat Open Bible 59-44 as they head to region play

Jack McRae is the Grace Christian Academy Cougars basketballs statistical leader as the team prepare for the final two months of their season.
In the Tuesday, Jan. 12, game with Byne Christian School in Albany, McRae had 16 points, 3 assists 8 rebounds and 4 steals. His teammate Noah Thomas had 8 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
“This week our guys came out really strong against Byne,” coach Mallory McRae said. “They executed well and really played as a team.”
Sam McRae also had a strong effort against Byne, coming up with 15 points, 2 assists, a rebound and three steals. Nate Walton had 6 points, an assist, 4 rebounds and a steal. Dakota Vickers had 2 points, 2 rebounds and an assist and Collin Woodrum had 2 points, an assist, a rebound and a steak.
On Thursday, Jan. 14, against open Bible Christian School in Valdosta, Jack McRae scored 28 points, 5 assists, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Noah Thomas scored 22 points, and had 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Nate Walton scored 2 points and had 8 rebounds, and 2 steals and Dakota Vickers had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals.
“The first half was close,” McRae said. “The Open Bible shooters were hitting everything. We went into the half with a narrow lead. We came out third quarter playing really strong. It was a good win as we start our region play Friday night.”
