Gilbert H. Gragg Southwest Georgia Regional Library assistant director Catherine Vanstone outlined the many programs the library offers for children and adults during a Wednesday address to the Bainbridge Lions Club.

Lions Club’s major project is helping the blind and vision impaired. With that in mind, the library assistant director talked about the libraries big print materials and DVDs.

“We have a very large number of big print books,” she said. “We are the headquarters for the Southwest Georgia Regional Library System. I would like to invite you to our Thursday, Feb. 18, open house. It will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and you will be able to learn about our assistive technology.

There will be representatives there from the Bainbridge Advocacy Individual Network, Georgia Industries for the Blind, the Senior Resource Center, Sowega Council on Aging, to talk about the services that they have available.

Assistant director Vanstone also pointed out that the libraries genealogy room offers local histories, yearbooks, microfilm of local newspapers and numerous other helpful resources.

“Our public computers allow our patrons the opportunity to check their email, work on papers and search the internet,” Vanstone said.

“We also have a summer reading program for youngsters and Toddler Time, which allows children opportunities to meet other children, hear a great story learn new songs and make crafts.”
