Bainbridge State College officially opened its new Hawthorn Health Sciences Center on Wednesday. The new facility, which includes a mock hospital, will provide nursing students the ability to simulate medical procedures such as drawing blood, giving IVs and delivering babies.
The staff at The Post-Searchlight applauds Bainbridge State College on its continued efforts to be at the forefront of training the next generation of professionals. The chance for students to practice medical procedures on specialized mannequins can have nothing but a positive impact on their education.
We at The Post-Searchlight are excited to see the future impact the Hawthorn Health Sciences Center will have on the Bainbridge community. BSC now has the ability to train future medical professionals in a way that will translate into better care for residents throughout Bainbridge, Decatur County and Southwest Georgia as a whole.
Students will be better prepared when they enter the work force because, as Jeffrey Ross, Chair & Associate Professor of Nursing said, students will be able to confidentially say they have “absolutely” performed all tasks asked of them in the work place.
The mock hospital at BSC includes ICU/trauma, OB and pediatric, medical/surgical and orthopedic rooms according to the press release which will allow students to learn a wide range of skills.
Congratulations BSC for continuing to improve the opportunities offered to your students.
