Bainbridge resident David Kendrick has announced his intention to run for State Court Judge in the 2016 election cycle.

Kendrick was born and raised in Decatur County and he graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1976. He graduated from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law and joined the Georgia Bar in 1983.

Kendrick is the son of J.B. and Anita Kendrick. His wide Rhonda is a teacher at Hutto Middle School. Their two sons Bowen (26) and Jackson (24) are students at Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law.

Kendrick originally practiced with Sprouse, Tucker & Ford in Columbus. He has practiced law in Bainbridge since 1987. He originally worked in a practice with Bruce Kirbo Sr., and Bruce Kirbo Jr. Since 2011 he has been partners with George C. Floyd at Floyd & Kendrick. Floyd is the current State Court judge, but he has decided to not seek reelection.

“Judge Floyd, who has been in office for going on 15 years,” Kendrick said. “He’s done a great job. His retirement is a loss to the local judicial system because of the way he performed his role. It was obvious to me that we need an experienced attorney to succeed him.”

During his career Kendrick has practiced law in a variety of areas including, but not limited to civil litigation, corporate law and estate planning. He has tried cases in most of the superior courts in southwest Georgia, Federal District Court and Bankruptcy Court. He has also argued cases before the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Kendrick previously served on the city council in Climax and as the city’s attorney.

“Over the years I had the benefit of learning a lot from a lot of great judges and attorneys I have had the pleasure of being around,” Kendrick said. “My mission, if I am elected, is to fulfill my role as judge in as professional, effective and courteous manner as I can.”
