Griffin announces candidacy for Decatur County Commission District 2

Climax resident James Douglas Griffin has announced his intention to run for the 2nd district Decatur County Commissioner seat.
Griffin is the son of Cecil and Anne Griffin. After graduating from Bainbridge High School, he joined the U.S. Army in 1972. He spent 23 years in the military before retiring in 1995 as a Sergeant Major. After retiring from the Army he spent eight years working in the telecommunication industry both as a business owner in Bainbridge and as a defense contractor with Taft Broadcasting. During his time with Taft he worked in Virginia, Korea and Maryland.
Griffin holds an Associate of Science degree from the University of the State of New York and a Bachelor of Science degree from the American Military University. He is currently working on a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
Griffin and his wife Cathy returned to Decatur County in 2013 and they currently live in Climax. They have six grown children and nine grandchildren.
Griffin said if he is elected County Commissioner his focus will not be just on district 2, but on helping Decatur County as a whole.
“I am an experienced and proven hands on leader with over 35 years of government service who believes in shining the light on problem areas and getting them fixed,” Griffin said.
If he is elected Griffin said that his focus will be on brining new industry and jobs to Decatur County. He also plans to work on ensuring that Decatur County is financially responsible and is held accountable. He also said that he plans on working with and for all the residents of Decatur County.
“I’m asking for Decatur County residents and the 2nd district voters support as my candidacy moves forward,” Griffin said.
