A man on a motorcycle was run over Tuesday while leading a woman to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol said.
The motorcyclist was stopped at the stop sign on the ramp leading to Hwy. 27 North with the woman following behind him.
“He stopped to let two cars pass, and she thought he went and ran into him,” Trooper First Class Brian Palmer said.
The motorcyclist was momentarily trapped under the car, but was able to escape by the time EMS arrived. He was immediately transported to Bainbridge Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Traffic was halted on the ramp as Bainbridge Public Safety and Georgia State Patrol cleared the scene.
Palmer insisted drivers pay attention to what’s going on in front of them to help lower the amount of distracted driving accidents.
“We have had so many deaths this year already with distracted driving,” Palmer said. “Always pay attention to what is going on around you. Drive defensively, not offensively.”
