Bainbridge High School Bearcats Head Football Coach Jeff Littleton reviewed the highlights of his team’s 2015 season, which was one of the best in school history, during a Wednesday address to the Bainbridge Lions Club.

“We went 13-1 last season and our only loss was to Cartersville in the state Class AAAA semifinals,” Littleton said. “We had the fifth 10-plus win season in school history. The others were in 1960, in 1982 when we won the State Class AAA championship under head coach Ralph Jones, in 1992 and in 1993. We were also the first Bearcats team to defeat Cairo twice in the same season.”

Littleton then praised multiple athletes who have received praise for their performances throughout the historic season.

“Dameon Pierce, our sophomore running back, was named first team Georgia Class AAAA All-State,” Littleton said. “He rushed for 2060 yards, scored 33 touchdowns and averaged 147 yards per game. He also ran for five touchdowns twice. Our senior wide receiver Tyler Storey was named honorable mention Class AAAA All-State. He caught 7 2 passes for 1,243 yards and 8 touchdowns. Our junior quarterback Brent McLaughlin set records for completions in a game with 22 and completion yards in a season with 2055.”

Coach Littleton said that in the off-season the Bearcats are busy lifting in the weight room.

“Our two main lifts are the bench press and the power clean,” coach Littleton said. “All of our players are really mentally focused. During the season we like to take our games one at a time. If you do a lot of looking ahead you can get in trouble.”

Coach Littleton concluded his remarks by telling the Lions that the Bearcats will be in a new region next fall.

“In 2016 we will be in Region 2-AAAAA,” he said. “In addition to us, Region 2-AAAAA will consist of Thomas County Central High School, Warner Robins High School, Veterans High School of Kathleen Georgia and Harris County High school.”
