New Bainbridge Leisure Services Department program supervisor Karson King and her former Valdosta State University Lady Blazers softball teammate Brianna Hancock held two pitching and hitting softball instruction clinics for youngsters Saturday and Sunday at Bill Reynolds Sports Park.
Saturday’s clinic, which was for 7-to-10-year-olds, ran from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and
Sunday’s clinic, which was for 11-to-18-year-olds, ran from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“I am from Columbus and my degree from Valdosta State University is in exercise physiology” King said. “We wanted the youngsters who attended the two clinics Saturday to be able to get in a hitting stance that was comfortable for them and learn how to bunt and hit away. We also made sure that youngsters who aspire to be pitchers could properly go into a comfortable wind up and stretch.”
Leisure Service program director Joey Lee said King will be a real asset to the department.
“The kids who came out to the clinics Saturday and Sunday could quickly identify with Miss King and her college teammate,” Lee said. “They were really excited about meeting them and learning from them. I could not be more pleased about the way everything went.”
