Dollie Mae Hines, 84, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Friday, January 20, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Dean officiating. The interment will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Dollie Mae Carter was born September 9, 1932, in Grady County, Ga., the daughter of Jeff Carter and Rebecca Johnson Carter. She married Marvin Ansel Hines in 1953 and spent her life serving her husband and children. She worked outside of the home at ITT/American Electric/Thomas & Betts from 1965-1994. Dollie was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

“Miss” Dollie was known for being serious and determined. She was a kind and loving caregiver spending every ounce of energy serving her family. “Miss” Dollie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing for her favorite time of the year, Thanksgiving. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling.

Survivors include her son, Marvin Ansel Hines, Jr. of Dawson, Ga.; her daughter, Linda Hines Newsome, and her husband, Sam, of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Chris Hines and his wife, Davalyn, Alicia Hines, Megan Hines and Sam Newsome; her great-grandchildren, Ashton Hines and Madison Jones; and her brothers, J.N. Carter and his wife, Betty, and Jesse Carter all of Cairo, and Jeff Carter, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Ansel Hines, Sr., and her siblings, Trudy Carter and Robert Carter and a daughter, Lisa Hines.
