The Bainbridge Lady Cats are still sitting in third place in Region 1-AAAA after losing to Warner Robins 63-54 last Friday and cruising to a 53-34 win over Thomas County Central on Saturday night.
Warner Robins is clinging to first place with a 6-1 region record (21-1 overall) and in second is Harris County at 3-2 (16-4 overall).
The Lady Cats had one more region game left this season against Harris County, who they played Tuesday.
Against the Lady Demons, Bainbridge came out blazing hot, throwing up 21 points in the first quarter over Warner Robins’ 13. The game got tight before halftime as both teams went into the lockerroom tied at 31-31. The Lady Demons adjusted and got hot in the second half, putting in 32 points (16 per quarter) and holding the Lady Cats to just 23.
The loss wasn’t for a lack of scoring efforts from Bainbridge players. Nadia Marshall led with 16 points, going 7-of-13 from the field, including a 3-pointer.
Eighteen of the Lady Cats’ points came from hitting 3-pointers. Tyra Smart drained three and Tytania Roseborough put in two. Smart totaled 11 points for the night while Roseborough added 11 to the board.
The Lady Cats also shot well from the free throw line, hitting 8-of-13
Saturday night against the Lady Yellow Jackets, Bainbridge’s defense held TCC to just 10 points in the first half, allowing eight in the first quarter and two in the second. Bainbridge was leading 32-10 at halftime.
Despite a rocky third quarter where TCC added 20 points to the board, Bainbridge kept them to just four in the fourth quarter. The Lady Cats scored eight in the third and 13 in the fourth.
Bainbridge has two non-region games left on its schedule. The Lady Cats travel to Tift County Friday for a 5:30 p.m. game before closing the regular season schedule at Seminole County in Donalsonville on Saturday at 6 p.m.
