Director Wanda Thomas was thrilled with the participation she saw at Tuesday’s Special Olympics. With almost 65 kids there to participate, it was more than she could ever hope for.
“The enthusiasm of them is just wonderful,” Thomas said. “They are just so excited when they come through the door; you can just see the smiles on their faces, because they know they are about to bowl.”
The students were provided with a lunch and a drink, and at the end of the day participated in an award ceremony, where everyone received a ribbon.
The ribbons ranged from first place to participant. Thomas said the kids don’t care what place they get, though because the goal for them is to just have fun and enjoy the time.
