First National Bank recently announced the 2017/2018 Bainbridge High School Youth Advisory Council. The purpose of the council is to provide the youth a better understanding of community banking, the many opportunities offered with a career in banking, and financial education.
The First National Bank (FNB) Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a service oriented and leadership development program comprised of 12-15 outstanding youth from Bainbridge High School. These young people are selected to serve as a liaison between their peers, the community, and the First National Bank Team. This group, while acting as ambassadors for First National Bank, will also have the opportunity for personal financial education.
“As young people transition to post-secondary studies or the workforce, financial education is crucial to insure financial independence in the real world”, said First National Bank’s Vice President of Marketing. “The FNB-YAC provides young people with the opportunity to obtain knowledge and voice opinions about concerns that matter to them, all while participating in decision making that may inspire them to take on greater initiative. Young people can put their creative ideas into action when they have control over decisions and plans; financially savvy young people ensure a greater future for them, their family and ultimately our community”, continued Smith.
The First National Bank BHS YAC meets monthly. Students have already assisted the bank during customer appreciation day held in October and are in the process of completing their first basic financial education assignment. First National Bank is a community bank with locations in Bainbridge and Cairo. As of October 31, 2017, First National Bank had total assets of approximately $161 million.
