Bainbridge residents should be prepare to be star struck Monday night at the first Bainbridge High’s Got Talent Show.

Drama teacher and choral director, Leigh Powell, has long wanted a talent show. When her friends, who are other choral directors and drama teachers, told her they hosted one, Powell got the idea to use a talent show as a fund raiser for Bainbridge High School’s spring musical, Cinderella.

Powell hosted preliminary auditions, where she narrowed the competition down to 10 competitors. She said there will be a variety of singers, instrumentalists and dancers. She is bringing in judges, who specialize in that talent category to help decide the winner. Mrs. Bowen from Hutto Middle School will be the first judge, Dee Perkins, who specializes in choreography will be the second judge and Devan Moore, who is an instrument coach will be the third judge.

There will also be a People’s Choice winner. People can place money in their favorite competitor’s box at the back of the auditorium. Whoever raises the most money will be named the winner. The money raised will be spent on primarily costumes and set design for the musical.

Powell said she is extremely thankful to principal Roy Mathews for his support while putting the show together; she said she has greatly appreciated his guidance. She hopes to continue putting on the talent show yearly, because it gives her an opportunity to meet students she may have otherwise never met. She also sees it as outlet for students who may not get to take an elective such as, art, chorus or drama.

The show will be Monday, March 5, at 7: 30 p.m. at the Kirbo Center. Admission costs $3, but viewers may want to bring additional money to sponsor their favorite act.
