Bearcats drops game to Leon

Bainbridge watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-0 loss to Leon on Thursday.
The Bearcats are now 9-11 (3-7 Region 1-AAAAA) and sit at fourth place in the region, ahead of only Warner Robins. Bainbridge played a doubleheader against the Demons (3-16, 0-8 region) Friday as their last region games. Ahead of Bainbridge in the region is Veterans (18-6, 7-1 region), Harris County (14-10, 7-3 region) and Thomas County Central (11-11, 5-3 region).
On Thursday, Leon scored on a single the first inning, an error in the first inning, and a single in the second inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Leon pitchers struck out seven, while the Bearcats only sat down two.
Leon got on the board in the first inning.
One bright spot for Bainbridge was a double by Conner Strickland in the first inning.
Zack Treadway took the win for Leon. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out six. Josh Rozental threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Rozental recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Leon.
Griffin Long took the loss for the Bearcats. He surrendered two runs on four hits over two-thirds of an inning, walking zero.
Quayde Hawkins, Michael Conder, Strickland, and Kaleb Varnum each collected one hit to lead Bainbridge.
Leon was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.
Bainbridge’s next game is Monday at Tift County.
